Advanced Placement FAQ
AP Guidelines
AP Credits are a great way to get ahead in your college course work! Students that participate in the Advanced Placement Program at their high schools have the opportunity to earn credit through College Board (CEEB). When you fill out your Course Registration in your New Student Checklist, let us know that you plan on or have taken the test. We’ll record your credit earned, and if applicable, place you in the next highest class.
AP Credits at SD Mines are governed by the South Dakota Board of Regents 2:5 Transfer of Credits
policy.

How do I send my scores to you?
You can send your scores to SD Mines for free when you register to take your AP test by entering our code (6652) in the registration form. You can send them to us after you take the test by going to
APscore.org. College Board charges a small fee to send scores after you’ve taken your test.
How do I view my scores?
Depending on your location, you can view your scores at
APscore.org in July of the year you took the test.
Do I have to wait to get my class schedule until you receive my AP scores?
You can receive your class schedule before you receive your scores, or even take the AP test. If you plan on taking an AP test for credit just let us know when you fill out your Course Registration Form, and we’ll assume you’ll earn a passing score and place you in the next highest class.
What if I don’t earn a high enough score on my test to get credit and I already filled out my Course Registration Form or have my class schedule?
When the Registrar’s office receives your final AP scores, they’ll adjust your schedule and you’ll be able to view the changes in Self-Service Banner.
What if I got a high enough score to be placed into the next class, but I’d like to retake the class I earned credit for?
You can certainly retake any classes that you’ve received AP credit for. You’ll have to let the Registrar’s office know by emailing them the changes you’d like to
registrar@sdsmt.edu.
