MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the South Dakota Mines
Public Safety Department to preserve the safety of the students, faculty,
staff, visitors, and the property of the university and to provide professional
quality law enforcement and safety protection. This shall be accomplished by
continually adapting to the needs of the university community while expanding
the education, training, experience, and duties of the Police and Safety
Officers employed by the Public Safety Department. The department strives to
provide a safe and secure environment that is conducive to preparing students
for leadership roles in engineering and science, while building enhanced
partnerships, and acquire the critical resources to accomplish shared visions
and strategic priorities.
The department consists of the Chief of Police, one certified police officer, one
safety officer, one parking officer, and student safety officers.
