Application Instructions

FALL (AUGUST) February 15
August 15

Accelerated master's students: The deadline for South Dakota Mines current students applying to an accelerated master's program is the start of the final semester of the bachelor's degree. Visit our accelerated master's program page for more information.

Distance students: Students planning to attend online may apply up to 30 days prior to the start of the term. Start terms are available in Fall, Spring, and Summer.

Applicant files will not be considered for acceptance until all the required application materials are received. Applications completed by the deadlines listed will, in most cases, receive a decision within one month or less of the deadline.

Applications for campus enrollment can be considered after the stated deadlines in most programs, but timely admittance and/or funding may be affected. Self-funded international applicants are typically considered up to 90 days prior to the semester start date (60 days for domestic U.S. applicants). If you submit an application package after the deadline and it cannot be processed in time for the semester requested, your application can be deferred to the next start date without reapplying.

Financial Assistance:  Applicants applying to campus programs will automatically be considered for assistantship support based on the information provided in your application materials. Funding decisions are typically communicated separately from the admissions decision. Note that Construction Engineering & Management and Engineering Management do not offer assistantship funding.
