South Dakota Mines Set to Recognize Veterans Day with Guest Speaker Col. David Moore

South Dakota Mines will recognize Veterans Day with a salute to service event and a chili cookoff.

South Dakota Mines’ Veterans Club will host their popular chili cook-off and raffle from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, in the Beck Ballroom. The 11th annual event features multiple chilies that the public can sample for a $5 fee and a raffle. The chili competition is open to the public for a $15 entry fee. Anyone who wishes to enter a chili can email the Veterans Club for details.

South Dakota Mines will also host its annual Veterans Day Salute event from 10:30 a.m.–noon on Thursday, Nov. 9. The annual event honors SDM students, faculty and staff who are veterans. The raising of the flag service will kick off at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Surbeck Center. The event will move indoors afterward to the Beck Ballroom. This year’s guest speaker is Col. David Moore of the South Dakota National Guard.
