Research Areas

In 2010, South Dakota Mines recognized four major research areas with a critical mass of facilities and personnel to foster future development of major research activities and enable the development of special niches of national excellence. These areas also are highly important for the state or nation, are priorities for various funding agencies; and will enable significant growth in graduate programs.
